What is Nina Manzi?

The Nina Manzi is a project which crystalizes two of Viva con Agua’s cultural basic assumptions – connection, and potential. This project provides mobile sanitation facilities (showers and toilets) to homeless people in Cape Town. It is an immediate and empathetic response to the lack of access to sanitation in urban areas. Nina Manzi seeks to create networks with those who share our vision in order to enable transformation in the lives of homeless people.

Bulungula Community Radio

What is Bulungula Community Radio?

Bulungula Community Radio is a driver of social cohesion for the youth in the Xhora Mouth community. It aims to engage young people in interesting, exciting and creative activities while enabling their contribution to the community development work we do.

The objectives of the Bulungula Community Radio program are to empower youth to make better lifestyle choices and be active agents of change and drivers of the community. We aim to ensure that out of school youth are living productive and enjoyable lives and ultimately increase social cohesion in the remote rural community.

Our activities include:

  • Providing a creative and productive avenue for our youth to demonstrate their DJ-ing talents to the community.
  • Creating opportunities for skills and confidence building.
  • Providing an excellent, low-cost way to share valuable information on health, farming, environmental and educational issues.
  • Creating a forum that strengthens community bonds through discussions and daily phone-in programs that engage with local community issues within the broader Xhora Mouth Admin Area and surrounding community.

We have a working partnership with RX radio who create health education content in a weekly show which has become a highlight for our listeners.

How to get involved:

We believe art can be a tool to create a significant change. Help us to realise our vision of Water for All and All for Water by getting involved. Become a volunteer or intern, become a donor, speak out about issues affecting those with inadequate WASH services, or visit us at the Villa Viva to learn more!
