Activity, Nina Manzi WASH Bus

Celebrating a Milestone: Nina Manzi’s 2nd Birthday at the Old Biscuit Mill.

On August 10, 2024, the vibrant and eclectic atmosphere of the Old Biscuit Mill in Cape Town played host to a special celebration— the launch of the Nina Manzi 2-Shower Trailer, an initiative designed to provide essential hygiene services to the homeless.

This event was not only a celebration of Women’s Day but also marked the second anniversary of the Nina Manzi Wash Bus, which has been a beacon of dignity and hope in communities across the city. As the sun peeked through the winter clouds, the Old Biscuit Mill buzzed with the energy of local artisans, food vendors, and curious visitors. Among them, Nina Manzi stood out, attracting attention with its eye-catching trailer and the promise of engaging activities. The event was a heartfelt effort to raise awareness, generate funds, and foster community spirit around the cause of hygiene and dignity for all.

A Perfect Match: Nina Manzi and Neighbourgoods

Nina Manzi’s presence at Neighbourgoods felt like a natural fit. The energy of the market and the diversity of its visitors provided the ideal backdrop for our activities. Throughout the day, visitors were drawn to the Nina Manzi trailer, curious about her story and eager to participate in the fun, engaging activities we had planned. From donation challenges to the popular “Spot The Nina Doll” game, there was something for everyone.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve collaborated with several stalls at the market that share our passion for the cause. Together, we’re creating a stronger community, and we’re excited to expand these collaborations and connections in and around the Mill.th creative incentives, games, and quizzes that brought the crowd together in a shared experience of learning and giving.

Community & Collaboration:

With its eclectic mix of artisans, food stalls, and vibrant atmosphere, provided the perfect backdrop for building new friendships and strengthening community bonds. Here, creativity and collaboration flourish, much like Nina Manzi. The market’s welcoming spirit and shared commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs align beautifully with Viva con Agua’s values. It’s a place where community and creativity come together, making it the ideal spot for Nina Manzi to make her mark and forge new connections.

Our New Home at the Old Biscuit Mill

In addition to celebrating Nina Manzi’s 2nd birthday, we’re also marking a new chapter for Viva con Agua South Africa. We’ve recently moved our headquarters from Villa Viva in Cape Town to the Old Biscuit Mill. But don’t worry—we’re still one big family. We just needed more space as we’ve grown, and the Old Biscuit Mill is now our second home.

This move allows us to be even closer to the community we serve, and it provides a fantastic venue to showcase the incredible work being done by Nina Manzi and the Viva con Agua team. Every weekend or every second weekend, you can find Nina Manzi at the Old Biscuit Mill. Whether you’re a regular at the market or visiting for the first time, we invite you to come by, see what she looks like, ask questions about how she operates, and participate in our activities. There are always prizes to be won and fun to be had!

Fundraising for WASH:

A key element of the event was our fundraising effort. We know that every little bit helps, and the day offered plenty of opportunities for visitors to contribute to the cause in a way that felt meaningful to them. From small contributions to more generous donations, the support we received will go a long way in continuing our mission to provide clean, warm showers to those who need them most.

We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to engage our community and encourage giving. Whether it’s through a fun game, a creative challenge, or simply the chance to learn more about what we do, we want to make sure that every donation feels like a step towards something bigger. Your support is what keeps us going, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed.

A Heartfelt Thank You and an Invitation to Keep Giving

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us so far. Your contributions, whether through donations or simply spreading the word, have helped us continue our mission of providing warm and clean showers to those in need.

If you haven’t had a chance to support the Nina Manzi initiative yet, now’s the perfect time to do so in person. Join us at the Old Biscuit Mill, where you can enjoy the market’s vibrant atmosphere while making a meaningful contribution to a cause that truly matters.

Together, we can keep making a difference, one shower at a time. See you at the Mill!
