Despite Cape Town’s Heavy Rain and Flood, Nina Finds Her Way to Oasis Place
Amidst the heavy rain and flooding, Nina’s unwavering determination led her to @oasisplacesa, where she could finally enjoy a well-deserved warm shower after an exhilarating indoor footsie trial. She proudly represented Team South Africa 🇿🇦 at this year’s Homeless World Cup in Seoul, Korea 2024.
Providing Showers and Dignity at Oasis Place
The Nina Manzi, a mobile shower service, was at Oasis Place to offer much-needed showers for the homeless participants after their football trials. This act of kindness and support is a testament to the power of community and compassion. Clean, warm showers not only provided physical relief but also restored a sense of dignity and humanity to those preparing to represent their country on an international stage.
Football as a Universal Language and Catalyst for Change
At Viva con Agua, we firmly believe that a world without homelessness is the ultimate GOAL, and the universal language of football is our game plan. Our 67 minutes of kindness on #NelsonMandelaDay were spent on the field, witnessing firsthand the transformative power of sport. Founder Clifford Martinus, along with team representatives, including former Bafana Bafana legend Nasief Morris, delivered inspiring talks that set the stage for change and the formation of a new 4-a-side team.
Our engagement extended beyond the pitch, as we collaborated with the local community to provide essential resources and support. The enthusiasm and unity displayed during the event were a testament to the positive impact that sport can have on social cohesion and empowerment. By fostering a sense of belonging and purpose, we aim to create sustainable change and contribute to a brighter future for all.
Office and Chill with “The Beautiful Game”
The prelude of this beautiful encounter starts with Viva con Agua team enjoying an office and chill moment by watching “The Beautiful Game,” a movie inspired by the Homeless World Cup. The film beautifully captures the spirit and resilience of the players, highlighting how football can change lives and bring hope to those who need it most. The movie served as a reminder of why we do what we do and reinforced our commitment to making a difference through sport.
Looking Ahead
We hope to replicate the uplifting results of the Netflix film #thebeautifulgame and bring the cup home. Until then, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved and commend you for being the drop that matters in this ocean of change.
